CEO and Managing Director
Mr. Siddharth Mittal is Managing Director and CEO of Biocon Limited. He joined the company in May 2013 and served as President & Chief Financial Officer until November 2019. With diverse global experience in strategic finance and accounting, mergers and acquisitions and general management, Siddharth has assumed positions of increasing responsibility over two decades of his professional journey.
With his proven record for driving strategic growth, Siddharth’s first six years at Biocon was focused on the Company’s biosimilar business, where he chartered a course for its future growth. In 2019, when the business was strategically spun off into a separate entity, Biocon Biologics, he turned his attention to leading the Company’s foray into the Generic Formulations space, as a natural progression from Biocon’s deep expertise in complex API manufacturing to vertically integrated finished dosage forms. He has since seen the business expand to a portfolio of over 20 products across developed and developing markets.
Recognizing the importance of being in the right market at the right time to fulfil unmet needs for affordable medicine, Siddharth set Biocon’s strategic direction to focus on differentiated products, manufacturing capacity enhancements, geographical expansion into key global markets, digital transformation and overarching quality excellence.
As a leader, Siddharth is passionate about progressive people practices that foster a culture of empowerment, out-of-the-box thinking, agility and execution excellence, on a foundation of uncompromising integrity. His emphasis on transparency, corporate governance and business ethics has helped position Biocon as a valued and trusted partner amongst customers across the globe.
An ardent advocate for creating global access to innovative, high-quality medicines that are made in India, Siddharth currently serves as co-chairman on the FICCI Pharma committee.
Siddharth graduated from Symbiosis College of Arts and Commerce, Pune. He is a Chartered Accountant from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and a Certified Public Accountant from Colorado, US.
