Global Head – Procurement & External Manufacturing

Kiran Kumar (KK) is responsible for overseeing Procurement & External Manufacturing across different global locations of Biocon Biologics.

A Biocon veteran, KK has played an important role in building the Finance function in India and Malaysia.

He held the role of Site Head at Biocon Sdn. Bhd., Malaysia, a subsidiary of Biocon Biologics, between 2019 and 2024. As a part of this assignment, KK led the operations at our state-of-the-art integrated insulins facility in Malaysia, which is the largest such facility in Asia and employs a large, talented, and dynamic workforce.

As the head of Malaysia operations, KK has demonstrated exceptional leadership. Under his stewardship, our Malaysia facility secured U.S. FDA approval for biosimilar Insulin Glargine and cGMP certifications from several other leading regulators including EMA. KK also successfully steered the site to profitability and strengthened relationships with global and local stakeholders such as the State and Federal Government, Ministry of Health, and others.

KK has held key positions in accounting, taxation, compliance, and business finance at Biocon after joining the company in 2006. He also served as Biocon’s Company Secretary before moving to the Company’s Malaysia operations as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in 2017. In addition to his role as CFO, he led the Supply Chain operations and IT functions in Malaysia.

Having started his career as Company Secretary at Kirloskar Toyota Group, Bengaluru, KK has over two decades of varied experience spanning finance, legal, taxation, business management and operations with Kirloskar Toyota, Metro Cash & Carry, and Biocon Group. He has played multiple roles in finance across industries and was involved in setting up the business operations of Metro AG in India.

KK is an associate member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) and is a Company Secretary by qualification. He has a bachelor’s degree in accountancy.
