Our workplace mandates equipment that meets the highest safety standards. We have established best in class EHS management systems conforming to ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 Standards at all our plants, to ensure our employees’ safety. Our Risk Assessment Programs include periodic audits of machinery, systems and processes to identify and assess possible risks on various parameters – both at an individual and organisational level. An integrated process safety management system includes best practices in industrial hygiene and exposure reduction.

By continuously reducing our carbon footprint, recycling and reusing resources, switching to renewable energy, improving energy efficiency, minimising waste generation, and sustainable sourcing, we aim to create sustainable ecosystems for a better tomorrow.

Our environmental stewardship benchmarking through Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) has been positive over the years. This reflects that we are forging ahead in our sustainability journey and commitment to improve our ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) performance.

Biocon’s best practices in energy and environmental management have not only delivered significant efficiencies and savings, they are also helping people lead healthier lives. We replaced conventional fossil fuels with piped natural gas for steam generation. More than 50% of our Bangalore units are driven by wind power. We are also using solar power at a small scale which further reduces usage of fossil fuels. Regular reviews of energy distribution and utilisation optimise our energy consumption. All manufacturing units continue to reduce consumption of electricity for lighting from the savings achieved, by replacement of energy intensive conventional lighting with high efficiency LED fixtures. Energy efficient layout and facilities are incorporated at the design stage of projects to make them energy efficient with minimal resource usage.
